I have been in the states too long (3 frigging years). Since I've decided to come out of hibernation and be social, I keep hearing the same thang. "Your still here?" "Oh, are you still with that brotha? No? Why are you still here?" "Where have you been? Here!!!!"

Every 2 - 3 years I get an itch. The only way it can be scratched is if I gets the heck outta here. And I believe it is about that time. The new guy I am dating says if I had peace of mind I would stop traveling. No, if I was a boring person with tunnel vision, I would stop traveling. This time around I am contemplating Central/South America. Actually, a friend of mind recently gave me both Vogue and Vogue Hombre Latino America - I've been reading it everyday. Even WASPy Vogue has more flava outside of the states.

I do notice a small pattern. When I do decide to disappear, I'll meet a nice guy that I would like to spend some monogamous time with - then I decide to get the helllllllll away. Ironically, I have done this twice and was able to pick up (the relationship) exactly where it left off.

Savannah is a small town with a lot of hatahs, here freedom comes with a price. Other places freedom just costs you a plane ticket and you are allowed to be a expansive and free thinking as you want to be. My friends are like you are so lucky to live such a private life. I'm like, f---! Y'all left here and became famous or almost famous. Sometimes it pays to leave your comfort zone.

At any rate I am about to go hang out in the big city (lol - country ass Atlanter). I'll see y'all when I get back.

Uranus Goes Retrograde or Is My Ass On Backwards?

My sistren, my brethren, mi gente. Have you ever dreamed the impossible dream? Now is the time when they all can come true. From June 14 until November 15 Uranus goes retrograde. Don't forget Neptune is still having a field day with everybody as well.

For all this will be a time of emotion. Uranus is affecting the grand trine of emotions - the water signs Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio. Also, those of you who are parents – those children will “act a fool” for a while. Time to get the grandparents involved and tap dat azz.

Uranus is the spirit of revolution and rebellion, combine this with Neptune going retro, illusion with revolution. Remember that REM song? “It’s the end of the world as we know it…and I feel fine.” You may start to wonder what it is you want in life. You will start to second guess yourself. Go seek your elders and spiritual advisors, you will be absolutely confused.

Oh and your money’s screwed. The majority of us will have to hustle to hold it down. Those of us born mid-March may find themselves with extra savings. Ironically, this is a good time for partners and partnerships, both business and romantic. (Hey, I just met someone who may be good for both. I will not be writing about him, he may be reading this).

From a personal stand point I am already brooding. Tuesday, after checking my finances, I was so pissed I weed-wacked my front lawn for 4 1/2 hours roasting and baking in 92 degrees sun (we won't even discuss the heat index). (Now I have to find a private garden to sunbathe in. I’m now three different shades). I was so hot (flame on!) I did not notice the external heat. What was more annoying was the men offering assistance, whilst I was almost done. I’m like you mofos knew I had a jungle out here where were the offers before? Now I’m out here in a skimpy tank top with boobs for days, “Sista, you are so beautiful, you need some help?” WTF. Next time my lawn needs work, I will just lay out topless and spread eagle eating oranges, and see what happens. A friend of mine stopped by and noticed that my lawn is down to the ground (oh yeah, I was pissed) while she was laughing, “Wow you won’t have to cut again until July”. (Actually, I think what is left is a combination of mulch, roots and dirt - it's all brown).

Yesterday me and my best friend consumed 1/2 a fifth of Pepe Lopez con Corona. When I went home I had two additional double shots. For breakfast (today) two double shots. Oh yeah, that nasty attitude intern caught hell from me on the bus (heh, heh, heh). Hey if I speak, ya better holla back.

Oh yeah back to the astrological tips...
When Uranus is in retrograde the change is on the inside. When both retrogrades are over we will be more self-aware and more spiritually in tune. But until then the majority of us will be broke emotional biscuits.

Just remember when it is all done you will be bigger and deffer than ever.

Want more? It's not two hamburgers and an icy Heineken, nor is it champagne brunch at the Windows (at the Hyatt over looking the tritium and mercury laden Savannah River - it's still beautiful though). It's a double shot (who am I foolin' triple) of tequila, salt, límon, either a Corona or Heiny chaser (xxxtra cold). Some of you snobs may disagree with my choice of chaser, honestly room temperature Guiness after a T-shot, nahhhhhhhhh.

Tequila is wonderful for the simple fact if you just consume it and/or a beer chaser, there is no hangover. I repeat there is no hangover. Now if you mix Big T with any other form of alcohol you are on your own (and an embarrassment to your homies/crew/clique).

I remember one bright summer Friday afternoon my best friend and I decide to end the week with a couple of double shots. Saturday I go to the kitchen - no shoes inside the house - things are getting trapped under my feet. The trail leads out to the back porch. Best friend drops by views kitchen floor, "Whoa you were drunk"(a rarity). Beads every where. Every square inch of my kitchen floor, druk beads, faceted Czech beads, seed beads. The back porch/patio cowrie shells, et. al.. (I also design jewelry). I shake my head and laugh in disbelief. We pull out yesterday’s bottle of Cuervo Gold, 3/4 of a fifth gone! Best friend, "We drank all of that?" Moi, "Apparently so..." We look at each other and finish it off.

Something has gone awfully wrong. Jose Cuervo Gold is off the market. $19.99 for a fifth, perfecto. It is great for Fridays when I actually go into the office and do budget reports, or when I do graphic design stuff, or I'm working on some pop-art stuff. Tequila is great for menial or mulitask orientated projects. Now there is this rotgut called Cuervo Especial. Yeah, it's especial all right - especial mierda (ish).

So I moved to Mezcal $30. I thought this would be the happy medium since Patrón (always smooth goin' down) is about $47 (there is another habit that costs me $50 a week let's not discuss). The bottle has cool Aztec symbols and a worm at the bottom. It is a reposado and is made with 100% pure agave. Matter a fact 2 double shots is the equivalent of 4. One drawback, it tastes like formaldehyde, Robitussin and Vicks Vaporub all into one. (Okay, the reason why I chose Mezcal is because I had the hots for a Mescal Indian brotha – he only dated white chicks. Crazy I know. Then he was in the army, real crazy).

On to Jose Cuervo Tradicional, my Spidersense said it replace Gold 1800, it cost a whopping $22 (woo, hoo). A 100% blue agave - ah, a reposado. Double shot numero uno...okay. Numero dos...swallow, pause, swallow...must...bite...lemon. Numero tres...must... get...Corona...now (yeah, the Corona tastes better than the tequila, what is wrong with this picture). My best friend tried drinking it again the next day. She poured it down the sink. I mis-read my Spidersense it was saying this tastes like Jagermeister and hot ass. I did #2 5 times during an 8-hour period. I guess shit begets shit. I did keep the bottle - it looks like a wine bottle (pretty).

Pepe Lopez, $37. The bottle is Native/Central American just like the Mezcal bottle. Double shot 1, okay. 2 - o.... kayyyy. 3&4 hot trail from esophagussssssssss to the stomaaaaaaaaaach. Well it tasted better than the others did and my best friend now has a set of cool bottles.

It seems like my body will only accept Patrón. I guess I really do have to set up a website to sell my merchandise. My habits are getting expensive.

My philosophy about life is if you are going to go, mine as well go allllll the wayyyyyyy. If it is not about the Good Lord, good food, good times, good friends and good sex, why are we here people? I am made of flesh, thusly I will enjoy myselllllllf, enjoy myselllllf. (Think spiritual hedonist).

Oh before you my-body-is-a-temple people say jack... Think outside of the box sobriety doesn't work for some people. If you ran into me in the street and I was sweet and polite chances are I was roasting, toasting and floating minutes before. Eeeeeeverybody knows I'm mean.

Some people get F-ed up to escape reality, I do it to function on this plane of existence.

Hope this post makes sense. This means it is also time for me to have a temporary boyfriend (6 months max, I have to make sure I get all the holiday zawadis [gifts]). Don't let him be a Buddhist, we will last until their New Years (February).

There is one guy I thought might be an eligible candidate. He's been chasing me for 6 months and he is not annoying about it. Some brothas want to call you 7 times a day and beg - whyyyyyyy? Honestly, I was still unsure if I wanted to deal with him. I haven't heard the right phrase/buzzwords that would make me say, "Yeah, he's the man" (of the moment - ha).

Mr. Would Be Summer Affair use to date one of my girls - don't judge. Okaaaaay at one point they were engaged. This was 5 years ago. She went back home to the Motherland, and stopped keeping in touch with everybody. So, as far as I was concerned she was no longer a part of my life. I was free from both guilt and karma. (He's good-looking, economically sound, and my girls and me belong the Big D**** Only Club <--- I would not be *ahem* disappointed, yippee).

The oddest thing happened. I received an email from Ms. Thang. (I'll spell this one out for y'all) FUCK! The first one was one of those Hi5 thingies, I was like whatever, a fluke. Then all of my addresses were being hit with "real" emails by her. ....Whoa. Scratch that fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. The very thing that would deter me from dealing with this guy has occurred. Girlfriend is happily married and all, but rules are rules. I was on her mind and she had to contact me, simple as that. Wow. (Nah, fuckshitdamnhell)! Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely ecstatic about hearing from her. Who knows bruhman could be a DL kinda guy (he is vain and flashy); or he could be violent; or be below the radar certifiable crazy.

Sometimes you can't see what is wrong with a person. People have layers and facades. It's not meant to be. So when a relationship doesn't pan out, I look up and say, "Thank you".

A Special Note To All Of You Serial Daters

Relationships are karmic. Sometimes you run into a past life husband/wife and you have to allow nature to run it's course. Just do what you got to do so you do not have to do it again in the next life, or at least to make the next encounter is more pleasurable.

I have never been married in the western since of the word, but spiritually 4 times. They were all husbands before and we had unfinished business. What we had was beautiful. Okayyyyy the majority of the guys I date are past life ex's. Reality check, I come from a traditional family, so I am for sale and come with a bride price (trust me I cost more than 2 oxen, 2 goats, 3 cows, 5,000 cowries and several acres of land, *Mr. Rodgers voice* Can you say pre-nup? I like the way you say that boys and girls).

While traveling I met this brotha who proposed to me before the night was over (this all happened in a single day - no it was not a post-coital exclamation). I met all of his people, yadda, yadda, yadda. This is not unusual for me. Everyone gets caught up in the glitter.

And guess what, you can have more than one soulmate (just not at the same time).

Some of you may debate this. So what it is still true. Chew on dat fo' a moment. (Yeah this post may be classified as an overshare - but most blogs are).

So does this make me a type='text'>Absolutely Nothing

<img alt="Image src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v149/Goldigold_5000/corona.bmp" />

The weekend contained scattered thunderstorms and humidity; so no reason to go outside (except for some Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey and to flirt with Hot Arab Guy) - I do not like hot azz weather. So, I decide to purchase some videos. Since VHS is virtually obsolete Home Run Video has previously viewed tapes at 2 for $4.95; unless its anime 2 for $9.95. I purchased Posse, Jackie Brown, Clerks, The Man in the Iron Mask (I so love all things Dumas and Louis the IV <--- he is the Sun King), Shallow Grave and Labyrinth of Passion.

Posse

My parents are baby boomers so I have a soft spot for westerns. Just keep in mind that most classic westerns (Sergio Leone) are blatant rip-offs of Japanese films, think Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo (The Samurai -I suggest all film geeks get this movie).

Pam Grier barely had lines and looked a little rough (she was portraying a prostitute, so let's just say she was in character). Sally Richardson's character gets buck nekkid with Jessie Lee (Mario Van Peebles). I have never seen her in a substantive role - wait she was the voice of the female cop in the cartoon Gargoyles, I liked her in that.

I love anything that shows positive Black and Red relations. But there were two scenes that gave me the creeps.

Scene #1. The entire posse bathing au natural in a lake. Normally, I have no qualms about viewing naked men. I personally believe clothing is a polite way of protecting humanity from unattractive bodies. These dudes were enjoyithemselves too much (in that soap-on-a-rope kind of way), perhaps the nudity equated with freedom.

Scene #2. Jessie Lee and his mentor (played by Melvin Van Peebles) both shirtless. Directors and their egos. Translation me and my daddy are foin look we both are somewhat) buff and shirtless. This reminded me of an episode of Living Single when both Van Peebles men were dating Regíne (Kim Fields). I can only assume that they are kinky and are into swapping.

And wasn't MVP in the worst Highlander ever? Just give up the ghost shorty.

Jackie Brown

I do have issues with Tarantino and gratuitous use of the N word. But, when this was released I was so happy to see Pam Grier working in a starring role. And she was not all titty naked doing a girl prison fight. I enjoy viewing actress that are good looking and not exposing the wonder twins. Soapbox comment: All Haile does is shows tits and screws, it compensates for her mediocre talents. How many times can you raise an eyebrow? Leave that to The Rock and Beyonce.

I have developed a fondness for Samuel L. Jackson. I use 13 letter curse words gratuitously after viewing a movie that stars him, Eve's Bayou included. I have never met him, but there is only 3 degrees of separation between us.

Clerks

Kevin Smith (even though he is now huuuuge in bodily dimensions) is still one of my favorite directors. This was his first film - hilarious. Chasing Amy's theme came from this film.

Movie highlight. Main character tells girlfriend that he has slept with 12 women. Girlfriend is appalled she has only slept with 3 men. Then we find out that she has performed fellatio on 37 guys - according to her its not the same. (Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight).

We also learn what a snowball is boys & girls --->insert me vomiting -no- *huuuuuuuurling* here<----.

Shallow Grave

Seen this once about 10 years ago. Two words Ewan McGregor. After viewing this movie I predicted he was going to have an excellent future in cinema.

Man Behind the Iron Mask

Everyone either had or attempted some type of euro accent exept for Leo Dicaprio (sheesh). Still one of my favorite movies. Porthos still remains my favorite Musketeer. All he wants is some bootay and to fight.

Favorite line #1.
Porthos: Arrgggggggh! It hurts when I piss! It hurts when I shit! I'm just a fat old fart with nothing to live for anymore. I'm going to hang myself...as soon as I am sober.

Favorite line #2.

d'Artagnan: Anne, I know that to love you is a treason against France; but not to love you is a treason against my heart.

Queen Anne: Then we will both die traitors d'Artagnan.

I know, sappy. Somebody is thinking that line is as bad as, "Hold me like you use to on Naboo".

Side note I know a descendant of Alexander Dumas about how he wound up in France, her reply, "Following some white woman".

Laberinto de Pasiones (Labyrinth of Passion)

I have never seen this but it is directed by Pedro Aldomovar it is one of Antonio Banderas' earlier roles. The back of the taped reads, "The plot is indescribable, involving a smorgasboard of obsessed outrageous folk dashing around Madrid in search of such things as sperm from the imperial family of Iran. A terrorist who works by smell; a desperate empress; a nympho punk rockette; a healer laundress; an incestuous gynecologist - all collide crazily in the hunt for happiness".

I hope this is not Antonio's breakthrough movie where he kisses a boy *huuuurlll*.

The weather for today is the same. So more movies for me to watch as I crochet and work on my needle felted sculptures.

The Golden 10

Luke Cage hit me with this one, so here I go. God, myself, Africa, family and money are the eternal top 5. The following Ten Things I Love are just to make me appear to be witty, obscure and deep. (In no particular order).

10. Carnelian necklace made by a brotha in Arizona. Very simple made with seed beads and a modest carnelian bead. The bead is 500 years old from Mali, West Africa. The brotha travels all of the world collecting beads.

9. Bell collection. Some antique West African pieces, modern Indian ones with antique style.

8. Bead and crystal collection. An addiction. I started beading in my early 20s. Some things I just love to stare at.

7. Yarn addiction/collection. I’ve been crocheting off and on since I was 9. I started to take it seriously (i.e. make money off of it) in December. I stated with that cheap Wal-Mart stuff (Puh-leze do not tell people I’ve been there. I just go for cheap DVDs, cheap tools and lawn stuff. I SWEAR). Now, my yarn is from Germany, Italy and Spain.

6. Toy collection. Modest and obscure. Stuff like light-saber spoon (Mace Windu was on the cover of Honey Smacks, c’monnnnnnn); Todd McFarlane Toys - nah, action figures. (Predator the Hunter and the cool Spawn with wings. It is amazing what becomes yours at the end of a relationship. I should have been greedy and claimed the kitana sword as one of my parting gifts); Barbie (well Barbie’s token friend Christie. Hey, at least she’s gotten darker over the decade. Now only if we can get her to sport natural hair). I won't embarass myself with the rest. I was so happy when I read and article in Bust magazine about women in their 30s that play with dolls.

5. My fan collection. Now you know I have to have those. I detest being hot, and if you annoy me…oops.

4. Vampire movie collection. Gimme a friggin’ break, I eat meat.

3. My ever growing Kokopelli collection. Who can resist a deity from Africa, that now resides in Central and South America. He’s a trickster who’s all about fecundity and good times. Allllllllllllll rigggggggggght.

2. Amber glass collection. My auntie (mild mannered grade school principal that will “Flame On” just like Grandma Laura did) “So what are you going to do with those?” Moi, “Put them some where…living room maybe.” Auntie, “You never use what you buy”. (“Shuyaaaaaaa”).

1. Plates I have made. My first plates ever are suwwwwwwwweeeet (suuukiiiinaaaaa). My wheel throwing instructor sucked. I guess I am not supposed to take a (leisure) pottery class in the middle of the day during the week. I missed the plate instruction class and she was too busy instructing glazing to supervise my plate progress. An advanced student saw my work and loved them. When I told her they were my first ones, she said I was gifted (plates are one of the most challenging things you can make in pottery. I didn’t realize this until my intermediate class). (Thanks for the vote of confidence Creator - I still do clay).

Now Mrs. Pilkington, Iselfra and Amadeo, I choose you! I'll be the first to admit it. I didn't realize how bad it was until the past weekend. I was insane. I thought I was just being hormonal (the moon was a waxing gibbous, Neptune went retro, yakkity-smakity you get the picture). Normally my fantasies would consist of Taye Diggs, Tyson Beckford, Antonio Banderas, Djimon Hounsou and myself in Martinique - um planning for world peace (yeah, right). Instead all I could think about was a rare steak, a rare burger, duck l'orange/peking duck, oxtails and curried goat.

Earlier this month for two consecutive Sundays I had a "macho breakfast", this consisted of two ho' made cheeseburgers and a Heineken. I mentioned this to some of my friends both veggie and non-veggie, male and female and I received the same consistent reaction - "Yeahhhhhhhh, that's what I'm talkin' about!” (Huh?)

About two months ago I was riding with some vegan friends up to Atlanta and the children said, "Ooo look cows". Of course being the crass individual I am, I replied "Yeah they would go great with a simple table red and rosemary potatoes". Children traumatized. Me rollin'. My best friend (suppressing her laughter out of respect for the hardcore-vegan-microbiotic family we are transporting), "You are in the car with two Tauruses that's cannibalism to us".

Just be glad I'm not eating it raw (hell, we can't do it raw nowadays –er– except vegetables). I wasn't always this way - just for the last five years. And I only eat meat once a week (twice max, unless I'm extra psycho). It may be psychological. If I'm feeling extra predatory I want a bun-length beef hot dog. Nah, scratch that I want a spicy beef sausage (the fatter the better)!

I have this Native American (his tribe is a subdivision the Hopi) "uncle" that I absolutely adore. It is not because of the rich cultural exchange of our peoples or how he babies me; it is because if I'm going up to the res (reservation) one of those cows ain't coming home. Ooooo and don't let it be a Holy Day/Event - meat galore. All blessed and holy - I'm doggin' it.

I have another dirty little secret. For the last three years once a season I eat up to four strips of pork bacon or four slices of pepperoni pizza. Two months ago I decided to be a naughty girl and order a bacon cheeseburger from the local college hang out. The delivery boy is usually your typical art school dude - not that day. It was a brotha with long locs (aww shit). He looked at me sternly (he's familiar with me through the work I do within the community [damn]) and never said a word. BUSTED!!! I've been punk'd by the Universe. I will not be touching those trichinosis-laden terrors again. A friend suggested turkey bacon – nah. (I don’t get it. It’s like how some women use sex toys – it just ain’t the same. I want the real ’ting). She then suggested beef bacon (ahhhhhhh).

But regarding my lust/love for meat. I just can't shake it. Ironically, when I was a vegetarian I was forty pounds heavier (I was still fly just extra thick, plus I'm tall, but I digress). My skin is at its best. So perhaps the carnivore lifestyle works for me.

Oh, did I mention that I have little fangs?

Neptune's In Retrograde - Retrace, Revisit, Review, Rewind & Reminisce

Last Thursday nothing was working right. It just wasn't clicking. In a minor fit of rage I hurled my keys across the floor (a made a little prayer hoping my flash drive storage thingy would not crack, amen!); I threw my mouse down on the floor it sustained minor damage; contemplated the laptop... naaaaaaah; the peachy rocker recliner - okay Goldi get a grip. I blamed my challenge on the approaching full moon and the fact that I have been sober for a week and a half (WTF). I decided to check my horoscope. Eureka I found it! On Thursday May 19th, Neptune went retrograde.

It isn't me, it is the Universe.

Neptune that slow moving blue planet of illusions, dreams, fantasy, intuition, mysteries, clairvoyance and substance abuse (woo hoo!) is going backwards. Actually, it only appears to be moving backwards from our planet's perspective.

Aquarians and Leos will be definitely be affected by this, but that's not the focus of this post. Dreamy Pisces people I'm talking to you. We are ruled by this nebulous planet. Neptune stays in retro until October 26th. As this planet retraces its steps through the heavens, so shall you retrace your steps in life (at least five months worth). Reflect and review your 2005 - no your life. Since the Twelfth House, which represents the soul rules Pisces; Pisces children tend to be spiritual in nature. During these next five months this is how you should be living your life. Pisces the fish represents the duality of the soul and we can be very *ahem* earthly as well. Meditate this will be your salvation.

Keep tabs on your dreams by maintaining a journal. Those of you who are of a psychic nature will be even more so. These events are happening because the Universe demands that you upgrade your life. Oh yeah, Uranus, the planet of change goes retrograde (10 degrees) in Pisces starting June 14th. Like it or not you will be making changes in your life - for the better. Move or be moved.

Pisces people even though creative, spiritual and brilliant are dysfunctional. The Twelfth House is full of karma goodness; we can't help but to be wacko. Every Pisces is off, slightly different. Those who are married, be thankful you have an anchor. You others keep awayyyyyyyyy from the bottle. Unless you are like me run to the nearest fifth of Mezcal and bite the worm! I was musing to myself unlike Valencía, which located on the Mediterranean; I did not experience "high volume dating". (When I say dating I mean exactly that--nothing carnal [gutter-minds]. Props to brother Amadeo for labeling me a serial dater. Leave it to Shango to understand the inner-workings of Oshun. But I digress...). I was falling in love with Surrealist Joan Miró (pronounced whoan), when it happened. I met Italian Hewlett-Packard Guy (IHPG). Score!

Over paella and copious amounts of red wine, he springs it on me. "Why am I not married?" Self, "Whuh?" "Why don't I have any children?" Self, "Whuh? Huh?” Blah, blah, blah, my biological clock is ticking (my biowhutty?). Blah, blah, blah time to make some babies (uh, time for another glass of wine).

Little did I know this would become the bane of my thirtysomething existence.

Some will say its society, others the double standard moral code--too many single women over twenty-nine with many suitors are definitely predators and whores. I believe its fear. Generally people do not like to be alone; and they resent those that are emotionally independent. I choose how I live my life and who my lovers are. Plus, as an artist I go on “hermit stints”. Personally, I’m feelin’ that Johnny Cash song (I have) “A Satisfied Mind”.

Last year my two-year monogamous relationship (a milestone for me) dissolved. I was in this relationship for two reasons: 1. I was in love (you know that can make your common-sense quotient drop) and 2. I had to prove to the world that I was mature (F-it I have the Power Puff Girls on DVD). I personally believe the break-up was best thing that happened in me and Bro. Seven-Years-In-Undergrad-Film-Major’s relationship. Wow! Now I can roll around in my bed and "Enjoy the Silence" (Depeche Mode). Even better I resumed my dating life. That's right that is supposed to be the focus of this post.

I live in Savannah where the intellectual, international and African-consciousness pickin's are slim - but I make due. I have “friends” strategically placed through out the continental U.S. and then some. My critics are usually men who feel that I need to be *ahem* tamed. (Yo this is not the Chronicles of Narnia and I am not a white stag). The ones that are women - hatahs. I personally refuse to be in a relationship where we are always "working on it" or there are constant issues. And why don’t I have children? 1. I am not married. 2. Condoms are 99% effective.

Relationships especially committed ones are supposed to be fulfilling. Complementing. The Yin to the Yang. Balance. Some of us just require more Yangs to our Yin. ;-)

Spread love.

New Man Up and One Recycled

As I have mentioned in previous posts (aqui y aqui) I will let y'all know about *ahem* staff changes. Let's welcome back Mr. Nasty Time (why oh why did I take the red pill). And there is a new one Mr. Flyy Aries Guy. I so love the way this one dresses kinda (kind of) like Pimp Nouveau. Mr. Pisces #2 - um...friends. It's not him it's me. New York Guy still on the list. Who I really want is Mr. Hot Banana Republic Guy (mama mia), but I respect those in relationships. The old me.....wellllllllll.

Usually by mid-summer I date one guy for six months. When next week previews come on - its the final episode. WTF!!! Say it ain't so!!! No more Capt. Dylan Hunt? It was bad enough when Tyr Anasazi(Keith Hamilton Cobb) became evil, cut off his locks and became one with the Abyss. He('s) fine! Sigh...

I was never a big fan of Enterprise (but I have been a Trekky since I was a little girl. Star Trek came on at 6:00 PM on WPIX Channel 11, Saturdays). Enterprise had Quantum Leap Guy, as Capt. Jonathan Archer and an over-sexed female Vulcan, so I gave it viewer support. Actually, my favorite episodes were the last ones that had the parallel universe Enterprise. The opening theme was even cooler. The sword through Earth insignia, stuff blowing up... Even the music was better. I couldn't stand the regular theme music. It sounded like (70s rock band) Styx. Yeah, I know the words to "Mr. Roboto" and "Don't Let It End" -- let's not go there!

I mean what's left?!? Matrix - Done. LOTR - Done. We have one X-Men and Spiderman left. No more Indiana Jones. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - originally four books and a BBC series. Dune - a whole slew of books and a remake (and then some). War of the Worlds - remake. What else is there? A remake of V? Hell there are six Star Wars. There's nothing left.

Fantasy Star Wars script:

Yoda: "Light-saber yours which is?"
Mace Windu: "The one that says bad motherfucker handling the Force."

I was going to post the lyrics to Michael Jackson's "She's Out of My Life" and apply to the captains. I'll spare y'all.

Update #1: Battlestar Gallactica - Starbuch is too macho and female. I hade a crush on the original (played by Dirk Benedict and he was part of the A-Team). (I mean I am secure in my sexuality [strictly dickly] and all, but women wearing a page-boy hair cuts and smoking cigars--uhgh).
Update #2: Favorite blog of the moment The Darth Side - Memoirs of a Monster.

I Got My Pink Furry Thang - Or Clinton is the Kewelest!!!

Oh wow!

In a previous post I mentioned how Clinton Powell of Spitfire Poetry Group had this pink furry thing I wanted, but they were sold out.

I recevied a call from Mr. Powell at 12:55 AM today. Normally, I am bright-eyed and bushy tailed this time of er...night. This particular time I was "Kirk-ed (the *bleep*) out" on the peachy recliner. He said he was stopping by in a minute to drop something off (?!?). Still groggy I assess my condition - topless with track pants. I am sure he wouldn't mind me answering the door that way, but I make a mad dash to the closet.

Once fully presentable I answer the door. He has for me a pink furry thing! Her name is Olesia. She may be pink and fuzzy, but she is a strong African American woman deep down inside, and has an obsession for tall skinny dudes. *giggle* She's so cute. What is so cool is that he made sure her name began with an O (my name [one of them] begins with the letter O). I feel special. A customized furry thing that's pink.

Goldi has spent the majority of her spring as Pinky. And yes, I do like to refer to myself in third person.

Do I Have to Start My Day? I'm so docile right now you can perform a coup de gras (on me) with some cotton candy--it would knock me the *bleep* out. My peach Lazy Boy Rocker/Recliner feels too good right now. I can just inhale glue and play with glitter all day. I'll ease in to the office during the afternoon. Yesterday was my best friends birthday...

Today's breakfast consisted of barbecue wings and seafood quiche (gotta give my girl Michelle props for that). I eat like this during the Winter Holidays. Crap! It is bad enough that I have to exercise, now I have "beer calories" to burn. Extra laps for me....Shit! It was worth it. The party had food galore, tequila and good people what else could you want? I'm a very simple person add this to money and copious amounts of *ahem* and I have found my own personal Nirvana. Yeah, that's the meaning of life to me. I keep it light and simple.

Ooo there were drummers! More than we anticipated! Drummers = Men. Vegan men! Conscious men! Ital men! Did I mention men?!? And my carnivorous-very-potent-tequila-and-sangria-drinking-behind was trying to be too cool. You see brothas refer to me as one of those Cindy Lauper women with a touch of Ciara. I'm a girl that just wants to have fun, but my goodies stay in the jar.

This was supposed to be a 2-hour get together that turned into 4 1/2. The Birthday Diva made a mix tape of 80s R&B (lol). She said it was 45 minutes long after its done folks gotta go. You know the finale folks, the Electric Slide and the encore the Electric Slide plus that Cha-cha thingie. Folks still would not leave!!! Ah, now I remember why - the after party was going to be at night club that just got padlocked by the IRS--boooooooooooo!

And so my day begins as I feel like I embody at least 5 of the 7 Deadly Sins. Let's review them shall we?
1. Pride (vanity) - Check.
2. Envy (jealousy)- Nah. I usually get hated on (please refer to #1.) .
3. Wrath (anger) - Check. Static. Start nothin', won't be nothin'.
4. Sloth (laziness)- Nah. Ditched this one when I left my 20s.
5. Avarice (greed) - Check. The World is mine and I want it ALL!
6. Gluttony (overindulgence) - Check. I enjoy my excessive not-so-rock starish lifestyle.
7. Lust (heh, heh, heh) - CHECKITY, CHECK, CHECK!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://goldigold.blogspot.com/2005/05/do-i-have-to-start-my-day-i-just-want.html' title='Do I Have to Start My Day? I sold more than I anticipated. But, what worried me was that none of my glitter-Marley or bling-Marley earrings sold. These are always haute sellers. They were ultra-cheap ($10.00 and $20.00), and heavily examined by customers (mostly artists). Which can mean only one thing--cheap imitations coming to your favorite downtown boutique soon. So, this week I will be putting some in my friend's store, Afrika in Savannah. If any of you are interested in purchasing we accept credit cards and check by phone. Pics of merchandise should be up no later than next Monday.

Special big-ups to Clinton and Epiphany of Spitfire Poetry Group for their support!

This one guy had these cute fuzzy/furry pink thingies. Clinton purchased one (I assumed it was for his mom or perhaps one of his spoken-word groupies), its name is Chester. "Chester used to be a writer for the Conan O'Brian show who's career went flat.... (or something, like my short-term memory is going to allow me to remember all that s***). I begged him to buy me one, he claimed that dude was sold out (uh-huh, you owe me how many lunches?). The guy that was selling them had a box and champagne flutes filled with "free sexy gumballs", this was such a cut-n-smart marketing gimmick. The two top words every consumer notices are "free" and "sexy". Perverts like Soundboyz would see "free sexy balls". It is 2:15 and I have dismantled two bikini tops. They were supposed to be completed yesterday. But nooooooooooooooooo!

Last night I popped in the tape of Snake and Crane Secret and the DVD of Enter the Dragon. I'm like all hyped--Yeahhh! Kung Fu!!! Psyche (Sike)! I passed out within the first 30 minutes of S&C. Even worse, I was musing about Mr. Homie Goodfriend who stopped by earlier. I was discussing my workout routine. He commented on what my target areas should be and the fact that I'm dope, but have no ass (everyone is waiting for the day I yell timberrrrrrrr - I'm top heavy)... To demonstrate this further I put his hand on my hip bone. Dramatic pause...silence...and we both smiled. I opened up my door and pushed his black ass out.

I'm trying to find out why the hell that when I need to be the most creative nothing is working for me. Then I remember last night's dream... I was making felt sculptures (like the one in the previous post--Meghan made it I don't do felt), but they were limp and needing to be assemled. I was going crazy with the needle to make them fatter--not working. Then I find this antique crochet hook, I decide I do not need it I already one that size. But then I study it and I realize its true value and I am grateful to have found it. Hmmm what does it all mean?

Fuck! Back to my creative drought. Why is everything going wrong for me? My shit has to be dope and set for Sa'urday.

Oh.....I've been sober for two mofo days!!! The theme is Mutation, you know, one thing changing into another. For those of you who can make it will be at Starland Gallery (41st & Bull), Saturday, May 7th, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

The items I plan to make and sell are:

Crochet bikini tops and purses,
Crochet brass and silver jewelry,
Rasta bling rings,
Cigar box purses, and
Domino art jewelry.

As soon as I get the film developed, the merchandise will be here for you to view (and purchase).

I’m crazy busy. Those plans and great ideas you have been putting off.....just do it, do it, do it! I love astrological phenomena, I can't say it enough (like the word gargantuan). In Tahiti, eclipses have been interpreted as the lovemaking of the Sun and the Moon - oooooooooooooo.

There will be a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on Sunday, April 24. It reaches its deepest point at 9:55 Universal Time, which is 5:55 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This particular eclispe will be barely visible, but hey it is still a celestial event. Our next total lunar eclipse will not be until March 3, 2007. What more info? Click it Sky & Telescope .

The Astrological Effects of this Eclipse

There can never be a Lunar Eclipse without an accompanying Solar Eclipse, but Solar Eclipses can occur without an accompanying Lunar Eclipse. Full Moons bring matters to fulfillment. If you have been working on a business deal or looking for some kind of settlement, this eclipse could finalize things. A Full Moon heightens feelings and emotions anyway, but they will be even more so because this Full Moon is occurring in a water sign (Scorpio). All eclipses produce stress in our lives as blockages begin to crumble followed by a feeling of freedom. Shock, they say, is good for the soul and a reminder of our humanness. Sometimes an eclipse signals the end of a relationship, sometimes the taking of a relationship to the next level and sometimes a change in marital status. At the very least, a stage in our lives ends and a new one begins especially for the signs directly affected by the eclipse.

On April 24, 2005 a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Scorpio. At exactly 6:06 am the earth will be moving through the constellation of Taurus at 4° 20' blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 4° 20' of Scorpio. The environment will be a little unstable because, as with all eclipses, there is change in the electromagnetic energy that affects us neurologically and mentally. An eclipse in Scorpio usually emphasizes money, investments, venture capital and inheritance. Keep this information in mind as you go through this eclipse cycle because the April 24th eclipse promises to be a positive one with many good planetary signals accompanying it.

Read your Sun Sign below to see how this stellar event will affect you.

Arians (would this mean Two Dogs? pun intended for regular commenters) can expect long-term changes in a partner’s finances. A career change over the next few months would not be a surprise. This eclipse will magically open new doors and avenues of abundance.

Taurus natives will experience a test in your marriage of current relationship. Long-standing seething issues come to the surface and need to be dealt with. A good relationship will survive.

Geminis have job changes in store and major shifts in the overall conditions at work. Those who hire others could see some shake-ups with employees.

Cancers have the opportunity to redefine their personality, image and appearance (dressing differently) and detox their bodies. New creative hobbies accompany this eclipse for Cancers.

This eclipse is very powerful for Leos so slow down a bit. Changes in the home and family pattern - possibly a move - are in store for you.

Virgos see changes in their intellectual interests. The neighborhood in which you live shows disruption and change. Get maintenance work done on your car.

Librans can look forward to important long-term financial change. Needed change that will ultimately lead to greater prosperity and greater financial health.

Scorpios experience a very powerful, intense time as this eclipse in Scorpio affects you the most as it occurs in your own sign. You redefine your personality and self-concept as there is a change in your image, the way you dress and the way you present yourself to the world. If you aren’t clear as to who you are, you will be defined by others so take heed and be aware!!

Sagittarians see serious love as being complicated but this eclipse will clear things for you.

Capricorns see friendships and a current love relationship tested. You could see a change in your marital status.

Aquarians experience a very powerful, strong eclipse so it is advisable to slow things down a bit. Don’t do anything you don’t HAVE to do at this time. You can expect job changes.

Pisceans (these chicks ROCK :-)) see all obstructions just blasted away to your good. Important educational changes are happening and future education plans are at a turning point. Any love issues are straightening out. Information courtesy of Astrology-Source .

Martial Law - Parte Uno

Living in Georgia is sublime hell. More specifically living in Savannah is like living in hell with palm trees. Don't get me wrong, Savannah is one of the most aesthetically appealing places you will find on the planet - but if you live here you know there is something inherently wrong. Those people who find the Hostess City perfect either a. walk around with their eyes closed (all 3) or b. they are part of the problem.

Georgia got its start as a penal colony; this state was founded by murderers, rapists and your garden variety crazies. When Sherman marched through Georgia he burned it down, but he found Savannah to be so "purty" he decided to spare her. He should have burned the mofo down to the ground! Fire is a cleanser and this place's energy has not changed since its antebellum days. When there is no change there is no progress or you will have the illusion of slow progress (i.e. time stands still here).

Last summer the powers that be decided to do the 90 Days of Summer Heat or whatever the hell it was called. This meant that if you drive on the interstate all you saw was the Man with his state of the art patrol car and scanner monitoring you. Making sure you are buckled up and obeying the speed limit. Right. For my protection....Right. Oh and they promise to be even tougher this year.

In Savannah, the city and the county have a new merged "relationship". Recently, a friend of mine was dropping me off at home at 9:00 PM (I live 5 blocks away) the road was blocked. There was a serious accident. All you saw was one patrol car with Officer Crufky (a la West Side Story) taking notes in his car. We never heard sirens. By judging by the looks of the car there should have been a body, an ambulance and the fire department present. Nothing but blinking silence. Scary...

The Mayor has begun his new war on crime. Before I go any further, I dig the Mayor he lives about 4 blocks away from me. The plusses the "boiz on da corner" are being picked up left and right - this has happened in just one week. The minuses are how it’s being done. There are now helicopter sweeps at night, they are picking up cell phone transmissions... This is way to Gestapo/Orwellian for me.

What is more unfortunate is that all targets are profiled. If you are an African American male with locs (dreadlocks) BEWARE - you fit the profile. There was a time when you saw a person with locs you were a threat because you were politically active and culturally aware. Now you are a dealer or a member of Lil Jon & the East Side Boys (hey, I dig crunk music, but c'mon).

The corner boiz are just foot soldiers, if you want drug trafficking to stop - stop the multibillion/million traffickers and plantation owners that are the source.

It’s a shame I can't go to the corner store for some Ben & Jerry's ice cream with out seeing helicopters circling. Thank God I have boobs, so I don't totally fit the profile.

Think of it as "legalized lynching".

Goldi Sets It Straight or Venus & Mars Wars - Parte Uno

Dating what does it mean? Going out, sometimes its just hanging out. Unfortunately, to the testosterone enhanced gender it means getting some. Shame on you. Just because you spent (at least) $70 for dinner and $20 for the movies does not mean you are going to get any. (Pay my house note, then maybe we can discuss *ahem* terms; and I need a Foredom flexshaft for my metalsmithing too).

I recently had an ex (who has been begging for 5 years), what would it take? I simply said, "I want to be wooed". The calls stopped.

What ever happened to romance? Ladies, its partially our fault. I blame those 20 year-olds and "easy teens". You’re just giving it up because estrogen told you so. What for? You don't reach your peak until your 50s. Men - 16. Mother Nature, you do have a sense of humor (the platypus and George W. Bush are other examples). When you hit your 30s you realize the value of what is between your thighs and you start to understand the power of femininity; and the men in our peer group are chasing 22 year olds. Why? It is all a matter of control. Self-possessed independent women terrify men. They have to find women they can dominate.

Gentlemen rise to the challenge, how many of you have mates that are your political, spiritual and mental equals. Yes, men and women are different - differently equal.

Two Men Down!

I can't believe it; I'm down to (gasp) 3 men! Spring is always a magical season. (Even though it is unseasonably cold down here – 65 degrees, omigosh...and we won't discuss the almost-daily-torrential-downpours)! The azaleas have bloomed early; it was unseasonably warm a month ago. The Universe seems to have and extra golden glittery glow…o.k. I’ll stop. There is more sunlight during the spring and summer months. More sunlight means more seritonin being secreted out of your brain. My point? It is time for one to turn her/his attention to the pursuits of wooing, i.e. get your mack on.

I am always accepting and reviewing applications (for potential boyfriend, lover, video game buddy [can you believe I have never played Halo], lunch pal, movie partner…). Sometimes I score and one person fits all the above. Other times? One for each heading. Then there are times when they are all lumped into one topic--sheesh.

At any rate the following are the currents for this season.

1. Scorpio Guy: He kinda (kind of) reminds me of a Virgo (sometimes) friend. How are they alike? They both think I am shallow. Like that’s a bad thing. Whatever. He reminds me of myself.

2. Mr. Pisces #2: A really nice guy. I was thinking how great it would be if he would get some dental work done. One day we were talking and he mentioned that he was going to get some work done. I’m like you read my mind – yayyy!

3. Mr. Pisces #1 a.k.a. MNT (MNT -- Remember Ice Cubes auntie in Net Friday – a phrase she said)? Every time I see him I simply think that.

4. New York Guy – Why do I not remember his sign?

5. This one is in constant rotation. Reserved for ex-boyfriends and persistent fans. The problem with ex-boyfriends/ex-lovers is it’s always something followed by some crap. The cool part about them is that we usually understand and tolerate each other’s idiosyncrasies. Conversely, we usually do not understand nor tolerate each other’s idiosyncrasies.

I’ll post an update if there are any staff changes or new positions available.

The Friday Five

The Friday Five, Times Five

1. You can get some from who ever and not think about diseases or death. And in the future everyone is hot!!! Oh yeah! But, there is only one small catch, you are terminated (nicely called being "renewed") at the age of thirty. Logan's Run received a Special Achievement Academy Award for Visual Effects. It was the first movie to use laser holography--yes it was made in the 70s.

Why am I talking about Logan's Run and the future?-- On March 7 I turn thirty-three. Basically, if this was Logan's future, I would have been renewed three years ago. Ten years ago, I dreaded the thought of turning twenty-five.

Now, I can honestly say, thirtysomething nice to be here.

Being in your thirties is great!!! I can't stress this enough--you're still hot; minus the angst of your teens and the stupidity of your twenties. Oh and you start to figure it all out, whatever that mysterious it is.

As a woman, I am starting to find my own voice. No kids and not married--I love it. At one point I thought I actually needed these two things to validate me as a person--no let me rephrase that... Society says that validates us if not that some other trend, botox, pilates, in vitro, whatever...

What validates me now? I ask myself if I am doing what the Creator has put me on the planet for? And that is what I am working on.

Oh and that figure it out thang? Don't try to figure it out too hard. Once you got it, it is time to be renewed ;-)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://goldigold.blogspot.com/2005/02/gasp-it-happens-next-month.html' title='Gasp! Put on your tap shoes, grab your umbrella, and.....well, what are you waiting for - a cue?

1) What is your favorite Movie Musical of all time? What's the worst you've ever seen?

Hands down it has to be The Wiz, staring the Diva Miss Ross. I swear I haven't seen this movie since I was like 5, 6, or 7ish. I knew every single song by heart. Heck I remember seeing Stephanie Mill in the play!

Worst? Right now I would have to say Chicago. I saw it once, and it just didn't do it for me.

2) Which Musical is your guilty pleasure? (i.e. which musical would you never admit to anyone - except 5.2 million internet users - that you know all the words to?)

Grease. Its the word, its got movement and feelin... Grease its the time is the place, its the motion, Grease is the way we are feelin'....

C'mon the soundtrack contribution the Bee Gees or at least a Gibb brother or two. The frigging' Bee Gees--oh man!

I accepted an ex-boyfriend back on one condition, he had to sit through Grease. And he is a film major. I told him how it was the perfect musical and it would show him how to properly adapt theater to film. :->

I know the dance steps to Grease Lightening.

Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Welcome Back Kotter......John Travolta!

Ahem, Sorry about that....I'm back to Earth.....

Moulin Rouge...I secretly do Le Tango de Roxanne by myself in my living room at least once a week.

ALL NATIVE NEW YORKERS SECRETLY LOVE WESTSIDE STORY.

3) Which actor/actress do you feel made the biggest contribution to Movie Musicals? Which is your favorite?

Lena Horne - Stormy Weather, The Wiz. Lucille Ball - Mame. Everything Gene Kelley and Fred Astaire have been in.

BONUS) Have you ever, in your wildest moments, come into a situation so perfect that it would almost be perfectly normal just to break into song? What would you do if you saw someone else belting out a heartbreaking ballad or a group of young toughs dancing in the street?

YES. It is called a perfect moment folks. Enough said.

Leave the link to your site in the comments, and remember:

"We are the maker of music, and we are the dreamers of dreams"

http://theaterthursday.blogspot.com

What Kind of Girl Am I?

My #1 gripe about dates...the decision of where to go is always mine. Now, that I am in my thirties I thought it would be a good idea to actually follow through on my projects.

I just finished making a simple gold head scarf.
